Until June 2022, I was the (founding) Chief Editor of Nature Chemistry. I’m now the Editorial Director, Nature Journals, Physics & Chemistry – here I am on LinkedIn.
Prior to all of that, I was an Associate Editor and then Senior Editor at Nature Nanotechnology.
Before joining Nature Publishing Group, I did various things at UCLA, the easiest of which to explain are that (i) I ran one of the editorial offices of Organic Letters (yes, I guess I kinda worked for the American Chemical Society at one point) and (ii) I taught organic chemistry and set really quite evil exams (apparently).
In the days when I actually stood at the bench and did some chemistry, I had the pleasure and privilege of working with some of the greatest chemists out there – my PhD was done under the mentorship of Fraser Stoddart and spanned the University of Birmingham in the UK and UCLA in the US, and then I was lucky enough to land a postdoc position in the labs of Bob Grubbs at Caltech.
